Learning Korean might be daunting at first but it’s really easy. The Korean alphabet consists of twenty four characters and each character has its own distinct sound. In contrast to the Korean alphabet, the Chinese alphabet and Japanese alphabet consists of characters that have a special meaning to each. This is why the Korean writing system, formally known as Hangul, is much easier to learn than other languages; it’s phonemic.

Perhaps it is more challenging to get a better understanding of the Korean culture. Koreans speak differently when they are talking to their elders. They use something known as an honorific, which sort of means extra politeness. For example, you should speak to your parents using honorific. When you speak to your friends, you do not have to use any honorific but when you meet a stranger, you might want to use honorific unless you don’t mind being spoken to impolitely too!
